As just mentioned in my previous Louisiana Red’s review, singer, songwriter, guitar and harmonica player Little Victor, has now settled in Barcelona city. It has been with Barcelona independent label, El Toro Records, specialized in publishing rhythm and blues and classic rockabilly albums, where he has decided to release this album of ‘raw down-home blues rockin’ boogie’. The cd oozes those classic sounds that drive us to the swamps of Louisiana, which especially remind us those 50’s recordings for Excello label, that built up artists like Lightnin’ Slim, Lazy Lester, Whispering Slim, Slim Harpo, Lonesome Sundown and many others. The fourteen songs included move between fast or medium tempos, so we miss some slow blues, at least under my point of view. Anyway, the album sounds hypnotic, thrilling, powerful and intense. The band includes Little Victor, Johnny Rapp, Bob Corritore, Mario Moreno, Bill Tarsha, Dave Foster, Brian Fahey and Sophie Kay. They sound teamed and well balanced, and they have captivated me with these old sounds I very much like.
