Another good record of this marvellous singer, guitar player and a great story-teller called Little Miss Higgins With this new cd she drives us into last century deep thirty years, with her lyrics and her acoustic peaceful songs in the path of Memphis Minnie ones Along this Live- Two Nights in March, Miss Higgins gives us different musical emotions that, although they are not exclusively blues, you can feel there are blues on them The album was recorded live the nights of March 12th and 27th 2009, the first one at Amigo’s Cantina in Saskatoon and the second night at Epcor Centre Theatre of Calgary, Canada Sometimes, Higgins reminds me Maria Muldaur, because both have a similar vocal tone and resources in the way they perform old classic or vaudeville great blues singers Fifteen marvellous songs, most of them Higgins own compositions, plus a couple Memphis Minnie’s tunes, one more coming from Lil Green and finally one D Mark’s song Besides Little Miss Higgins herself on vocal and acoustic guitars, she was backed at the Amigo’s by Foy Taylor on guitar, stomp vox and voice in one song, Joey Lorer on bass and ‘Jimmy’ James McKee on trumpet and callouts The night at the Epcor Centre, Higgins was backed by Foy Taylor again and Cedric Blery on clarinet It is a relaxed peaceful album to be calmly enjoyed and savoured one and many times
