Singer Lilly Martin grew up in New York, in the legendary Greenwich Village, a place that in the early sixties was the center of folk music, frequented by artists, beatniks, poets, painters, writers and musicians. People like Bob Dylan, Jack Kerouac or Allen Ginsberg hanged around this bohemian New York neighborhood. The special atmosphere one could breathe there deeply influenced Lilly who soon became a jazz, blues and soul singer, styles that she now plays with honesty, sensitivity and intensity.

In 2000 she was winner of Swiss Blues Awards and since that moment she decided she should widen her horizons, incorporating her own songs into her repertoire and giving place to other styles such as gospel, rhythm & blues or Motown.

Together with his partner, multi-instrumentalist Michael Dolmetsch and a handful of good musicians, she now releases a new album where she has included eight own compositions and four versions as varied as “Desperado” coming from The Eagles, “Leavin'” by Shelby Lynne, “Driving Wheel” by Roosevelt Sykes and “Soul Searching” by the Beach Boys.

Lilly Martin’s quality and good taste when she develops her songs become evident along this elegant, well delivered and, at the same time, passionate work. An album that inspires, relaxes and invites us to calmly reflect about the situations, experiences and deepest life lessons people faces every day.
