Here comes the debut album of harmonica player and singer Li’l Ronnie and his band The Grand Dukes recorded for EllerSoul in early January 2012, The cd is a powerful example of the good work of this harmonica player, singer and songwriter, together with the band guitar player Ivan Applerouth Both sign twelve of the fourteen songs included in the cd, plus Buzz Me by Louis Jordan and C’est La Vie by Chuck Berry The album walks in the right direction, with a bunch of songs that move among rockin’ blues, swamp rock, Chicago blues and jump, all solid straight songs that deeply impact with a powerful emotion in the heart of listeners, thanks to an endless swing, twist and groove Li’l Ronnie Owens blows different riffs and beautiful phrasing with taste, skill and good tone but, sometimes, his voice is not so good as it should be for the good general cd quality However, it is an honest well done album that really deserves a good note
