Singer and piano player Leroy Carr was born in 1905 in Nashville and unfortunately passed away in 1935 He spent his childhood living on an itinerant circus where he learned to play piano Afterwards he moved to Indianapolis and together with guitar player and singer Scrapper Blackwell founded one of the most historical influential blues duos Carr singing was bitter, disappointed but at the same time quite sophisticated and together with straight restrained piano playing, gave him a unique special sound which laid the basis to urban blues from de Great Depression to the middle of the forties Austrian label Wolf Records gives us this great treasure with twenty three songs recorded between 1928 and 1935, perfecto to enjoy and discover the mastery and sensitivity of those two impressing blues monsters which were Scrapper Blackwell and Leroy Carr who sings in all songs
