Legendary singer and harmonica player Kim Wilson who, has largely get his own right to be part of blues history, delights us again with a new album This time he goes back to the origins of genuine Chicago blues and he does it with the natural simplicity that have those people who have reached the complete mastery of blues, that could not be otherwise in a musician like Kim Wilson According to his own words, what now most motivates him is to play and complete a series of recordings that come back to the roots of 50’s Chicago blues sound, playing with different musicians who have talent enough to get the real feeling of this kind of music For this first volume (which is expected to be continued) Wilson is surrounded by Billy Flynn, Big Jon Atkinson, Bob Welch, Danny Michel and Nathan James on guitars, Marty Dodson and Malachi Johnson on drums, Larry Taylor on bass and double bass and the sadly disappeared while this project was running, Barrelhouse Chuck on piano and Richard Innes on drums Sixteen blues that combine Kim Wilson’s own compositions with versions coming from Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, Jimmy Rogers, Magic Sam and Jimmy Reed, make this album become one of those yesterday, today and forevermore Chicago blues treasures Wilson has dedicated this album to James Cotton memory and, if he could listen to it, he would certainly have felt extremely honoured
