This is the second album singer, songwriter, harmonica player and guitar player Kevin Burt has released for Gulf Coast label, after the good reception of the first one “Stone Crazy” recorded in 2020. The recording is a tribute to the late songwriter Bill Withers as, of the thirteen album cuts, twelve are Bill Whiter’s own compositions and the last one is a Kevin’s own song.

As guitar player and Gulf Coast label owner Mike Zito says, “Kevin’s voice is both commanding and soulful, and his way of displaying songs is really honest and comes from the deepest of his heart. On this new album, Kevin puts his soul into Bill Withers’ music, creating a connection that goes beyond the voice. The album becomes a must for Bill Withers’ fans but, at the same time, introduces Kevin Burt to a wide audience”.

Mike Zito’s words confirm the undeniable quality of a self-made musician. After many years working hard in the music business, it finally seems Burt sees his work recognized, thanks to the good reception he has received from audience and specialized media, something he had deserved for years. Now his popularity has gone up, not only in the Midwest but also in the rest of USA and internationally. He has been winner of the International Blues Challenge in three categories: solo/duo, Cigar Box Guitar Award and Lee Oskar Award, besides being nominated for the Blues Music Awards.

Kevin Burt is on vocals, guitar and harmonica, while Ken Valdez plays lead and rhythm guitar, Scot Sutherland on bass and finally Eric Douglas is on drums.
