Born in New Orleans in 1957, Kenny Neal soon learned all the secrets of Louisiana blues from his father, legendary harmonica player and swamp blues singer Raful Neal and his good friends Buddy Guy and Slim Harpo.

At thirteen Kenny was playing guitar in his father’s band and four years later he was member of Buddy Guy’s band. Together with his brothers he founded The Neals Brothers Blues Band touring a good number of times. However, success came to him in 1988 when he recorded his first LP for Alligator Records entitled “News From Baton Rouge!!”

Kenny Neal has developed a fruitful career and a style firmly rooted in Louisiana blues and especially in swamp blues, giving to it a remarkable very original actual color, which now reaches the peak with this last work recorded for German label Ruf Records where he has counted with some deluxe guests like Christone “Kingfish” Ingram on guitar, Tito Jackson (Michael’s uncle) and Kenny’s sister Syretta Neal on vocals, accordion players Big Nate Williams, Anthony Dopsie and Dwayne Dopsie, piano players Arnet Hayes, Brandon Adams, Orlando Henry, Darrell Jefferson and Arnet Haves, plus an impressive horn section and a perfectly teamed band. All of them contribute to round up a magnificent album.

Recorded in Kenny’s own studio in Baton Rouge with no time pressure and a very familiar relaxing atmosphere, the album presents eleven songs of real tasty bayou blues, where Kenny’s voice and guitar excel in an effective work. Also mention Kenny devotes two heartfelt songs “Blues Keep Chasing Me” to his friend Lucky Peterson who recently passed away and “Someone Somewhere” to the memory of his father Raful Neal.
