This is one of the masterpieces by our old friend, singer and harmonica player Junior Wells The CD is a reissue of an old LP, also recorded by Delmark in 1969, but it also includes seven bonus tracks along with a sixteen pages booklet with inner notes and some unreleased pictures by Delmark owner, Bob Koester The album faithfully captures the magic, the essence and the spirit of blues that in those days filled clubs like Theresa’s, placed at 48th St with Indiana in Chicago south side There you could weekly see Junior Wells with Buddy Guy and Otis Spann, together with other great bluesmen who were usually there In these recording sessions Junior is surrounded by a deluxe band with Buddy Guy and Louis Myers on guitars, Otis Spann on piano (in fact this was Otis’ last studio recording before his death), and the rhythm section with Ernest Johnson on bass and Fred Below on drums The album was recorded live in studio, mostly in one take, to capture the intensity, the attack, the way of singing and the unique moments of a real jam session This is a magical superb and impressive album, where the power of blues can be felt in every song I am sure you will not get out of these blues alive
