Born in Newark, New Jersey in 1950, singer, guitar player, songwriter and historian Juke Joint Jonny (John Rizzo) became familiar with folk blues from a young age. His parents were railroad workers and lived in a small apartment very close to their work. Staying at home Jonny was able to listen to blues sung and played by the sharecroppers who moved north looking for a better life. After participating in Vietnam war, Jonny traveled to Europe where he improved his fingerpicking technique with countless gigs along Denmark, Belgium, United Kingdom and especially in London pubs. In 1997 he started a collaboration with Albert Castiglia and his uncle Joe, although his growing career was cut short by cancer, he has overcome twice, and by the pandemic that forced him to remain inactive.

Now he comes back with more strength than ever to delight us with an album where he shows his strength, feeling and good taste along twelve versions of songs that come from artists like Muddy Waters, Son House, Taj Mahal, Bob Dylan, Willie Dixon or Robert Johnson among others. With these songs he confirms his skills as an excellent acoustic roots blues performer, a style he totally masters. You will also find some guest musicians who help to give variety to an already delightful and interesting album, perfect to enjoy a good session of genuine blues.
