Band formed in Madrid in mid-nineties, with the idea to promote postwar Chicago blues, also including some swing, rockin’ boogie, Texas and West Coast in their repertoire The band musicians are Quique ‘Beer’ Gómez, harmonica and voice, Curro ‘Bourbon’ Serrano guitar, Coke & Santos, drums and Diego ‘Scotch’ de la Torre, bass Their name comes from of John Lee Hooker’s song One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer, although I prefer Champion Jack Dupree’s version, but it is simply a question of personal taste Their musical experience and knowledge are broad and wide, as they have played with every blues musicians in Madrid They have also brought blues to every corner in Spain and have played in a couple of Festivals in Belgium and Holland The first album includes thirteen amazing versions of songs by Willie Dixon, Little Walter, Memphis Slim, Jimmy Rogers, Gary Davis and Leonard Allen, together with classics like Caledonia or Arthur ‘Big Boy’ Crudup’s Mean Old Frisco A delicious Chicago blues tribute, done with great enthusiasm and professionality, with the priceless collaboration of Edu Manazas -always a guarantee in any country blues album- You will also find great national bluesmen such as José Luis Pardo, Gaby Jogeix, David García or Rafa Sideburns among others The second cd is a more eclectic varied one, covering a wide range of blues styles Eleven songs, including versions of T-Bone Walker, Percy Mayfield, Louis Jordan, Clifton Chenier or Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson among others, but they also repeat with some compositions by Jimmy Rogers They have the special collaboration of virtuoso harmonica player Antonio Serrano, playing chromatic harp in one song The third one brings us Quique Beer (Quique Gomez) together with guitar player Luca Giordano and a rhythm section with David Salvador on bass and Fabio Colella on drums All musicians bet for a good review of Chicago blues with songs coming from Little Walter, Willie Dixon, Junior Wells or Sonny Boy Williamson II among others If you like original genuine hard Chicago sound, based on amplified harmonica, this cd will certainly cover all your expectations, like the previous ones have done it Vitalist unpretentious blues, performed witn honestry and pleasure by a bunch of musicians who really know what it’s all about and display them with nothing up their sleeves
