Jr Johnny was born in New York In his youth days he usually was seen around the bohemian area of the city and he also played in some garage bands One day he listened to Muddy Waters and since that particular moment, he decided blues would be the music that would fulfil his life When he came back from Vietnam, he moved to San Francisco where he met musicians like Mike Bloomfield, Jimmy Whiterspoon and was honoured to play together with John Lee Hooker who was the one who gave him the nickname of Jr Johnny To take care of his family he had to leave the music aside and devote his time to the most varied jobs Now Jr Johnny has felt the necessity to come back to the music, so he has recorded a relaxed and intimate album that includes ten original compositions that give us a simple and informal atmosphere The songs may seem quite similar in tempos and, besides, Jr Johnny is not a singer with a wide vocal register, so he sings following a melodic line similar to Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed who, instead singing they usually recite Together with Jr Johnny on vocals and harmonica you will also find Peter Corrigan on rhythm guitar and slide, Denny Dwyer on lead guitar, Tony Perrino on keyboards, Stephen Minnich on bass and Joe Rocco on drums
