Jr Johnny is not a new artist in these pages, because we have been attentively following all the work he has done during the last years This new cd, recorded under his own and his backing band names, Jr Johnny keeps on doing his own material, he cleverly combines with some covers coming from his favourite bluesmen like Sonny Boy Williamson, Willie Dixon, Big Joe Turner, Geoge ‘Papa’ Lightfoot or Tomy Tucker among others As singer and harmonica player, Johnny is gradually climbing to the highest positions in the international ranking Gifted with a deep fat tone, fine versatile well-crafted riffs and a voice which is daily becoming more mature and settled, Jr Johnny has now gained trust among wide audiences who have discovered him during the last years To do this new cd, he has chosen an excellent bunch of backing musicians, such as Stephen Minnich and Rick Fincke on guitars, JT Burley on bass and upright bass and George Wilson on drums Twelve interesting blues, performed with honestry and an exteme good taste, make Red Hot cd a more than an interesting album
