Sometimes we get curious recordings like this album coming from Joyce Tape, an African singer and bass player, as well as an excellent photographer, born in Ivory Coast. After becoming well-known in France as a photographer and doing several exhibitions, Joyce decided to come back to music.

In 2012 she met blues musician Boubacar Traoré, who was born in Mali and she became interested in blues. Both musicians have collaborated in different musical projects both in France and in various African countries. Today Joyce Tape has made herself a name, performing in a good number of French festivals like Cognac Festival.

This album gathers thirteen songs where the most outstanding element is African music but developed with a modern approach to, in this way, reach a wide sector of listeners. With a careful instrumentation that mixes traditional African instruments with electric guitars, bass, drums or harmonica, the result is a different, original, well-made recording, easy to listen for people who are not familiar with these musical styles. Also highlight Joyce’s deep and well-pitched voice, which really matches with the repertoire that gives shape to this album.
