Since he was a young boy, Johnny Ticktin felt the call of blues deep in his heart and soul Day and night he listened to the recordings of the great legends of the genre, so he soon decided his life will be devoted to play guitar and sing the blues He started to hang around blues circles and play as much as possible Harmonica player and good friend Larry Wise introduced him to Louisiana Red and together they formed a trio known as Nobody’s Children which extensively toured along United States and Canada Thanks to Louisiana Red, Johnny could meet many of those Chicago blues legends he had so deeply admired when he was a young guy Now Ticktin leads his own band, The Headhunters which, besides doing regular and frequent tours, has just released its eighth album Once again this new release shows Johnny’s loose and uninhibited as well as sweet smell and lively style, displayed in ten good versions that cover different kinds of blues like swamp blues, roadhouse blues, funky groovin’ blues or even mambo blues, but always focused in Chicago blues roots, that becomes the band more distinctive stamp Now Johnny has consolidated his career based on hard work, a passionately playing and the eight released albums, that become an excellent business card
