Born in Philadelphia, when he was only fifteen piano player Johnny Iguana started to be obsessed by Chicago blues Deep admirer of Junior Wells and Otis Spann, he began to play regularly at clubs and bars of his hometown, covering many Junior Wells’ songs Some years later Johnny met Wells at a show in New York and he could hardly believe that, after he listened to him playing on a couple of live auditions in Boston and Rhode Island, he hired him to play in his band, where he worked for three years touring and recording with Junior Since that moment he performed or recorded with all Chicago great names and now he presents his first album as a leader, where he is surrounded with really big names of Chicago blues, like Billy Boy Arnold, John Primer, Lil’ Ed, Bob Margolin, Matthew Skoller, Billy Flynn, Bill Dickens, Phillip-Michael Scales, Michael Caskey and Kenny Smith The quality of all these names leaves no room for doubt that we are facing a traditional Chicago south-side blues album but, at the same time, developed on an actual, original, dynamic and in constant evolution way, where Johnny Iguana gives his personal piano label stamp along the twelve songs that strongly flow in this vibrant and fantastic recording
