Both Johnny Big Stone and Sweet Marta lead a couple of electric blues bands where they pay tribute to the blues they like most, as are Chicago or Texas blues This time they come on a duo format in a completely acoustic album, where they want to give homage to those legendary blues songs that used to be played at the end of last century twenties and most of the thirties, which described a true picture of daily life and hard problems of black people at that time, which forged blues music as a style with a life of its own To do so they have successfully revived and recovered old songs coming from Blind Blake, Floyd Council, Big Bill Broonzy, Jazz Gillum, Chuck Darling, Blind Lemon Jefferson or Reverend Gary Davis, but they have also allowed themselves to cover some more recent songs like Thunder by Steve Guyger and Paul Oscher, That’s Allright by Jimmy Rogers or It’ll Be Me by Jerry Lee Lewis Johnny’s heartbreaking and even rough voice together with his faultless guitar playing, well supported by Marta’s harmonica playing and the special collaboration of The Walking Stick Man at washboard in some tunes, get to work the miracle to make us move to Mississippi banks, to an old back porch or a country party, where blues was the main music you could listen to An amazing trip I eagerly recommend you to do with them
