Another basic and essential record is this magnificent reissue of an old album by the excellent hairdresser, singer and bass player Sylvia Embry, together with guitar player John Embry who, at that time, was her husband Besides the ten cuts coming from the original LP entitled After Work, recorded in 1979 for the small label Razor Records, there have been added seven new songs recorded live from Bold One Lounge Club in Chicago Thanks to the magnificent mastering work carried out and supervised by producers Mark Lefens, Michael Landers, Robert G Koester and Steve Wagner, the album has got an excellent clean sound Sylvia Embry was singer and bass player in Lefty Dizz’s band and in 1978 and 1979 they daily played in Blue Mondays club and regularly performed at Kingston Mines and Checkerboard Lounge, three of the most important blues clubs of the Windy City If you want to enjoy the real deep intensity this woman had, do not hesitate and get a copy of this cd, where the deep magic of the real Chicago blues shines to a very high level Besides Queen Sylvia Embry on bass and vocals, you will also find the guitars of John Embry and Riler Robinson, drummer Woody Williams and some other backing musicians
