Australian blues and soul singer and guitar player John McNamara has travelled to Memphis to record this album It was done at legendary Ardent studios where he was surrounded by a group of outstanding musicians coming from Stax factory as drummer Steve Potts (Booker T & The MG’s), bass player Michael Toles (Bobby Bland, The Bar-Kays), piano player and organist Lester A Snell (Albert King, Isaac Hayes), together with a powerful and appetizing horn section with Mark Franklin on trumpet and flugelhorn, Lannie McMillan on tenor sax and Jim Spake on baritone sax, besides the able and strong support of Michael Toles as a second guitar and Iseula Hingano and Nicole Nehemiah on backing vocals Six of the ten album songs are John McNamara’s own compositions, and the rest are covers of songs coming from Otis Redding, Bobby Blue Bland or Little Willie John The album is powerful but at the same time rich in nuances, both on sound and arrangements With such a line up, the esult can be no other than an exceptional album, where the voice and guitar of McNamara stand out with an undeniable quality, a respectful dedication and a broad mindedness
