Singer and author John McLean and French guitar player and vocalist Charles Barkatz have joined forces to present their last recording that has been produced by sax and harmonica player Mark Kaz Kazanoff Both musicians have an extensive career which covers a variety of musical genres Don has specialized himself in theatre, films and music and Charles has led various bands in France, both them specially emphasizing on jazz, a genre they know very well, so when Kaz received their proposal to produce them an album putting a special emphasis on blues, he felt a little bit skeptical but, when he listened to the demos both musicians sent him, he was totally fascinated and immediately got to work For the recording John McLean and Charles Barkatz have counted with the collaboration of an excellent group of Austin musician, like Derek O’Brien on guitar, Nick Connolly on keyboards and B-3, Chris Maresh on bass and double bass and John Chipman on drums, plus The Texas Horns led by Mark Kaz Kazanoff himself, as well as some other guests The album presents ten songs, all them inspired by jazz, roots music or blues, displayed and developed in an engaging very actual style So the result is an album designed to satisfy a wide, diverse and international audience
