I take my hat off in front a musician like John Mayall who, with eighty-four years, is still active and stands up during the two hours of his live shows Besides, John is in a constant evolution, keeping intact his ability to create new concepts in blues, something quite difficult to any blues musician Mayall did not get anchored in 60’s British blues, he has always innovated and continues to do so, as he is always one step ahead of other musicians who have tried to follow his trace In this album he has included eight own songs and three versions, It’s Hard Going Up coming from Bettye Crutcher, Goin’ Away Baby by Jimmy Rogers and Don’t Deny Me by Jerry Lynn Williams The band musicians who back him are the usual ones in recent years with Greg Rzab on bass, Jay Davenport on drums and Rocky Athas on guitar, although Rocky is no longer member of the band and he did not participate in John’s last tour You will also find in the album guitar player Joe Walsh and a teamed horn section which give power, quality and variety to the songs where they play Mayall is still alive and well and this album truly reflects his undying personal blues, as ever developed with great skill and displayed following Mayall’s regular basis, which have always left a deep footprint along his extensive career
