An excellent album, full of magic and skill, performed by a truly lover of the most orthodox existential blues, mister John Long who, besides playing guitar, is an expert on rural roots blues, deeply based on Delta and Piedmont styles. You will find in John Long’s music the desperate cry, the gaunt voice that cries mercy on the desert for losers and homeless, who give their blues along the old dusty southern roads with the only aim to find peace and calm every human being seeks and looks for. John Long is a real actual troubadour, as were Blind Blake, Gary Davis, Mississippi John Hurt, Tampa Red, Leroy Carr and other blues heroes, who have been an essential part of the history of blues. This is a cd which must be taken into account.
