    Valoración: ESSENTIAL and GREAT

Two precious treasures of the legendary authentic and pure Chicago southside blues sound of the fifties The first one is a digital remastering of old John Brim’s recordings dated of 1951 and 195, which means to enjoy again with some of the first recording sessions John did at the beginning of his musical career where he is backed with so great blues stars such as Roosvelt Sykes Sunnyland Slim, Moody Jones, Eddie Taylor and other names that I will let you discover as well as the great moments gathered in these legendary recordings that give us an extreme feeling and emotion ‘Jake’s Blues’ is a recently recorded cd where Brim is backed with a good band who play Chicago blues with a very good knowledge, giving the right background for the personal Brim’s ‘lazy’ way of singing His calm nostalgic style has been one of the particular traces of John’s blues singing Besides Brim at guitar, we can also find the effective Billy Flyn, producer Jan Arenas, Rick Gerek on harp, PTPedersen on bass and Matt Liban on drums We must be grateful to Anna Bea Records for their effort and risk assumed by producing and publishind these two records
