Yes… yes… definitely we can say the blues exists in Hawaii, and singer and guitar player John Akapo confirms it With his impressive stature when you see him coming from distance, his deep voice, and his passionate acoustic guitar playing, Akapo has dazzled for decades not only the habitants of that wonderful island, but also tourists and visitors This is his first album, where the most traditional blues is seasoned with Pacific salted sea water, in ten good songs, seven of them John’s own compositions, plus three versions of the classics Ramblin’ On My Mind coming from Robert Johnson, I Can’t Be Satisfied by Muddy Waters and Big Road Blues by Tommy Johnson The album is a good example of genuine acoustic and semi-acoustic blues All the fans who have tasted live John Akapo’s fine blues, will also appreciate the fact that a musician coming from Hawaii has the skill to communicate the Mississippi deep south blues passion and spirit and do it with such delivery, commitment and honesty
