Let’s follow on with another interesting album, this time by piano, organ and keyboard player Joe Krown. Joe controls New Orleans piano like no one else, as he lives in the city, but he is also an accomplished performer of Hammond B3, as well as being a regular artist at the renowned New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival or French Quartet Festival. Joe has been nominated for countless awards and has also backed musicians like Walter Wolfman Washington or Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

According to his own words, this album he now publishes wants to be a tribute to the music and the artists who have most influenced him along his career who unfortunately most of them have passed away. Names like Evalyn & Melvin Krown, Beth Krown Mahier, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Walter Wolfman Washington, Allen Toussaint, Randi de le Gueronniere, or Griper Nugent which, together with some other ones, have contributed to feed the inspiration of this outstanding pianist who, thanks to this new recording, will be appreciated and enjoyed by many blues lovers.

Surrounding Joe’s piano, you will find an excellent band with Mark Brooks on bass and double bass, Doug Belote on drums and guitar players Jack Miele and John Fohl, musicians who do an excellent work to highlight the performing qualities of this excellent and rather unknown musician. A number of guests participate in the recording, like Ivan Neville and Noa Hunt on vocals, Walter Wolfman Washington (with a posthumous contribution) on guitar and vocals, Leo Nocentelli on guitar, Jason Ricci on harmonica and Joe Sublett on sax.

Eleven songs, three of them Joe’s own compositions, form a varied album developed with an intense feeling that allows us to savor all the spirit of New Orleans music, in all its shapes, styles and sonorities.

Crescent City atmosphere and soul can be found in this lively and appealing album that will not disappoint at all those who like the tasteful rhythm and blues coming from that particular city.
