I have in my hands two completely different albums, both them coming from the duo formed by Joe Filisko and Eric Noden The first one presents original songs inspired in rural blues, folk and ragtime of last century twenties, thirties and forties, where both musicians display their skills and deep influences which come from people like Sonny Terry & Brownie McGhee, Sonny Boy Williamson or Big Bill Broonzy This first album entitled On The Move follows the tradition that both performers use to do, that is to create new music but always inspired in old styles and patterns coming from traditional blues and country Twelve excellent cuts performed with an excellent restrained good taste by Eric Noden on vocals, guitar and banjo and Joe Filisko on harmonica and vocals Beau Sample joins them on double bass in six of the twelve songs included in the album The second cd is another story, something totally different from the previous one, where you will discover Eric and Joe as The Eric Noden Band, playing in electric format with two special guest musicians as Kenny Beedy Eyes Smith on drums and E G McDaniel on electric bass The album is totally rooted on blues, although it also shows other faces and aspects of American music such as rock and funk, which enables us to discover a new facet of this superb duo, and listen Eric Noden playing electric guitar, always with a juicy style and an attractive elegance Once again the two musicians’ commitment, energy and good taste will captivate the audience, not only in their live performances but also in these two completely different but, at the same time, so captivating albums
