To say Joan Pau Cumellas is a virtuoso harmonica player will not discover anything new. For years he has devoted himself to study and refine his technique performing this small but, at the same time, big instrument, managing to reach a really high level that becomes almost perfect. This allows him to approach with total reliability styles like blues, classical music, folk, country or rock.

This last recording becomes a good example about. Twelve songs, eleven of them instrumentals, plus “Up The Line” coming from Little Walter where Cece Giannotti is on vocals, give shape to the album. Besides playing harp, Cumellas contributes with eight own compositions, while guitar player Valentí Moya brings two own songs. You will also find “Blues Harp”, a song coming from Jean-Jacques Milteau.

Backed by a very professional trustworthy band where, besides Valentí Moya on electric and acoustic guitars and ukulele, you will also find Fer Tejero Vélez on piano, Fender Rhodes and organ, Jordi Blanes “Petit” on bass and Pere Foved on drums, Joan Pau Cumellas and his inseparable harmonica give us a superb lesson of good taste, mastery skill, technique, variety and control along a highly recommended album, not only for harmonica fans, but also for good music lovers.
