A CD and the first DVD of his career, both recorded live, are his new delivery of this Alligator artist who is one of the musicians who has sold more records in recent years. JJ Grey sold more than 125,000 copies of his third album. “Brighter Days” cd was recorded in January 2011 at the Variety Playhouse in Atlanta, and includes twelve songs with approximately seventy-seven minutes of effective Americana music, including some of his more popular and acclaimed hits, such as “Lochloosa”, “The Sun Is Shining Down” and “Brighter Days”. The almost two hours DVD includes the same songs of the cd, plus three new ones. It also brings us interesting interviews and some off the record shots recorded at the studio among different song takes. These additional parts are of important relevance, because they give to the DVD (directed by Spookie Daley), the essence of a rock documentary in the path of “The Last Waltz”. In short words, it is a fantastic and more than recommendable CD/DVD for all those JJ Grey & Mofro fans, who also love of the music of other similar artists like Bruce Springsteen.
