A very interesting solid and compact piece of work of the always funny, enjoyable, witty and nice singer Jimmy Nelson whose musical talent becomes evident on this new cd. Jimmy Nelson has behind him a wide productive career full of juicy anecdotes and experiences. On “The Legend” Jimmy pays homage to some of his most relevant influences, from Louis Armstrong’s “Sleepy Time Down South”, he sings with a relaxed baritone voice that reminds Jimmy Whitherspoon style, to Sonny Boy Williamson’s “Help Me”, where Sugar Ray’s harp playing shines at a very high level or even Louis Jordan’s rhumba/calypso on “Run Joe”, where you will enjoy Sax Gordon Beadle’s and Doug James’ tenor and baritone sax inspired performing. The rest of the songs included on the cd are Nelson’s own compositions. You will also find a deluxe backing musicians, such as Duke Robillard on guitar, Matt McCabe on piano and Neil Gouvin on drums. Enjoy a real treasure.
