Good double cd by Jimmy Lloyd Rea, a very popular singer and bass player among his fans, but also deeply admired by bikers and habitual customers of clubs, taverns and road or highways bars. Jimmy has been involved into the music world for a long time, he is a shifty character who cannot be easily fooled. Jimmy Lloyd Rea’s mission is to turn his parishioners to his rockin’ blues gospel and, it is in this field where he is the king and he feels in his element. Jimmy is a good shepherd, a man of faith who converted to the blues religion and began to gospel people with his strong liturgy based on the four strings, leaving his home in Oregon to begin a new life as minister of blues. Since then on, he has done a non-stop work, neither surrendering to the hard problems of life, nor becoming disturbed or depressed when he had to play for an audience of five drunk people or when he was lucky to play for three hundred blues mad people. But, coming back to the double cd, let me say it gathers twenty-six songs. The first cd presents the excellent contribution of guitar player Craig Tarwater, an experienced imaginative musician that surely will impress you. During his younger years, he played with Dobie Gray And The Drifters and, later on, with Barry White, Frank Zappa, Canned Heat, Buddy Miles, Steve Miller, Dr. John, Buffalo Springfield, and many others. This first cd will totally satisfy those of you who love blues with guitars, because you will find three guitar players playing all together in some tunes. The second cd brings us a collection of Jimmy Lloyd Rea’s favorite songs. They come from his first three albums “The Blues Is On The Line”, “Roadhouse Blues” and “Croozin’ For A Bloozin'”, where the second one is probably the most traditional blues album, including Bill Rhoades on harmonica, Vince Hozier on guitar and Curtis Johnson on drums and the third one, recorded in 2006, is an energetic powerful blues-rock cd. In short words, a double album you will enjoy as a child with a new toy and, for those of you who still are a reluctant agnostics, I dare say that, after listening to it, you will probably become faithful blues followers for the rest of your lives.
