This double cd of traditional deep Mississippi singer and guitar player Jessie Mae Hemphill will not really satisfy those of you who look for a pure delta blues double cd They were recorded live in one go with a joyful easygoing atmosphere where improvisation, relaxed talking, party spirit and frienship prevailed during the time that mics were switched on that place to collect all that was happening there and, of course, record the traditional songs that were played along the party Many Jessie’s good friends wanted to participate on that party such as Robert Belfour, RL Boyce, Gary Burnside, Tramp Camp, Cyd Cassone, Kenny Brown, Cedric Burnside, Chris Chew, Davis Coen, Eric Deaton, Papa Malic, Jimbo Mathus, Steve Gardner among other ‘Queen of The Guitar Boogie’ friends who certainly are really unknown for the readers’ majority This double cd is simply a document where ‘The Jessie Mae Hemphill Foundation’ pays homage to one of greatest acclaimed performers of the rich roots old deep south musical tradition to give the world the opportunity of discovering a little bit more the history of this intense rich kind of music
