Here comes a very well done album, with a professional tasteful final production A new ambitious project where Geoff’s and Maria Muldaur’s daughter introduces herself as singer, with a texture, different nuances and vocal qualities really enviables It is inevitable to compare Jenni Muldaur’s voice with Ammy Winehouse’s one, not only for the kind of musical styles both deal with, but also for the quite similar vocal tone Dearest Darlin’ brings us twelve precious gems, performed on a priceless neo-soul, jump flues and rhythm & blues format You will find songs like I’ve Got a Felling originally recorded by Big Maybelle in 1954, 1963 Lee Dorsey’s You’re Breaking Me Up, 1957 Bo Diddley’s Dearest Darlin’ or Lost Someone recorded by James Brown in 1961 In short words, it is a marvellous album that, despite it includes quite old songs, they are played with good contemporary arrangements Besides some guest musicians, you will also find superb backing ones, like Sean Costello on guitar, Brian Jackson on keyboards, Brad Jones on acoustic and electric bass and James Wormworth on drums Totally amazing!
