To open a cd with a song like Chain of Pain is more than a good option to start an album of good boogie blues and rock ‘n’ roll After working in New Orleans in so different jobs like in a laundry, a pizza deliver or as a barbecue and fish fry cooker in several festivals, James Day decided to devote his life to music He called his band The Fish Fry and they travelled to Philadelphia searching new opportunities There he and his group became quite popular, they also backed many artists and became essential for James Harman or Nathan James In fact it was Harman himself who produced his first album For this second one James Day decided to pay tribute to Gulf coast sounds including from zydeco to gospel, New Orleans rhythm and blues, a little bit of swamp pop spiced with rockabilly, the sounds of 20’s and 30’s jug bands, some Delta down home blues, classic Chicago shuffles and even some Caribbean rhythms, all to make us dance and drive us to the real blues essence James also has a cool sense of humour which gives him a unique and effective style James Day is on vocals, harmonica and slide, Mark Sheuchuk on guitars, Ron Baldwin on piano, accordion and Hammond, John Merigliano on drums and cardboard box and Michael Massimino on electric bass and double bass, together with The Wild Bohemian Horn section and a good bunch of reputed guest musicians like James Harman or Mark Hummel on harmonica
