Another participating band at the European Blues Challenge 2023 in Chorzów, Poland is the Finnish one Hi-Five Quintet. Active since 2014 especially around Helsinki area, it can’t be said they are a usual blues band but rather a soul and rhythm and blues group. However, this does not mean they do not gather a remarkable quality, both on stage presence and Saara Koivisto’s vocal skills, who easily moves along a tailor-made repertoire. Also mention the undeniable professionalism of the other quintet musicians with Olli Virkkunen on guitar, Jari Martikainen on keyboards and vocals, Kimmo Lehtola on bass and vocals and Markku Mäntymaa on drums and vocals.

The recording only features six songs. In all them listeners will immediately realize the good taste, elegance and mastery Hi-Five Quintet present the songs, as well as the experience they have got after starting their musical career doing versions of the greatest soul and rhythm & blues hits, which has allowed them to begin now in the of composition world, with a repertoire of interesting own songs.
