Hans Theessink and Big Daddy Wilson discovered the blues by quite different distant ways. Hans fell in love with the blues one night he listened to Big Bill Broonzy on a radio show in his native Holland. Since that particular moment he completely devoted himself to savor and perform this music. On the other hand Big Daddy Wilson discovered the blues when he was a soldier in the USA Army stationed in Germany. It was in a so distant country from his native North Carolina where Wilson felt the call of blues and was immediately caught by his ancestors’ music.

Since then on both musicians have separately developed a fruitful career, although they were often talking to record something together, as they are good friends with very similar musical tastes. Finally the day has come to give shape to that project they had for a long time in mind, where they have included sixteen songs with Hans Theessink is on vocals, acoustic guitars, mandolin and banjo and Big Daddy Wilson on vocals, percussion and ukulele.

The album combines songs coming from both musicians with four traditional songs rooted in Delta blues music such as “Everybody Ought To Treat A Stranger Right” by Blind Willie Johnson, “Pay Day” by Mississippi John Hurt, “Hard Time Killing Floor” by Skip James and “Denomination Blues” by Washington Philips.

Blues, roots music, folk or gospel performed with feeling and good communication by two interesting artists.
