In the late 50’s and early 60’s, appeared several organ trios, which performed groove music with an amazing quality, like the ones of Jimmy Smith, Larry Young, Brother Jack McDuff or Big John Patton among many other less known ones. They also featured excellent guitar players like Kenny Burrell or Grant Green. The Gregor Hilden Organ Trio pays homage to those artists with this restrained but, at the same time, magnificent recording where, both the music and the spirit of many of the just mentioned musicians can be found in each of the fourteen songs that round up the album. Although it is not a blues label, German company Acoustic Music always publishes interesting music and recordings, thanks to the quality of the artists who appear in their catalog. This is the case of this trio formed by Gregor Hilden on electric, acoustic, baritone guitar and sitar, as well as playing with nylon or steel strings, Wolfgang Roggenkamp on B-3 organ and vocals and Dirk Brand on drums. In short words, this is an album full of groove and personality, performed by really able musicians who will immediately catch most listeners’ attention by their undeniable quality.
