The personal sound of this great saxo player, that becomes a mixture of a honker and Louis Jordan, is really special Piccolo denies to be only considered as a blues musician who merely combines blues with jazz and swing sounds and he is right, as he is much more than this simple definition He is a complete musician, in the full sense of the word, who writes his own compositions and cleverly arranges them, to get the amazing honker sound of Eddie Cleanhead Vinson but also with a Buddy Johnson’s or Lester Young’s mellow-jazzy flavour His musical career grew up as leader of The Roomful Of Blues, without forgetting the gratifying experiences with such great musicians as Stevie Ray Vaughan, Earl King or Big Joe Turner These two albums have been recorded under his own name and both give out tons of swing, energy and vitality Besides, he is surrounded by good musicians and friends who perfectly back him during the aproximately two hours of non-stop modern-funk, rock, soul, r&b and jump-blues Relax yourself and enjoy the electrifying notes that come out of Greg Piccolo’s tenor sax
