Harmonica player and singer Grand Dermody and guitar player and singer Frank Fotusky have joined forces to produce this recording, which has found inspiration in the especial connection and feeling both musicians had with the late singer and guitar player John Jackson, one of the great masters of Virginia Piedmont blues style, who gave it up in 1949 and was rediscovered in the early sixties.

Grant Dermody met Jackson and John Cephas in mid-nineties. The three musicians became very good friends and, although Jackson never recorded with Dermody, Cephas did it on Grant’s first two albums. On the other hand, Frank Fotusky already knew Jackson’s work. Finally he met him personally and, since that moment on, they became great friends, thanks to the human quality of the two musicians.

If it had not been for the friendship, admiration and respect Grant and Frank felt for John Jackson’s unique personality, both musicians would not have met, something that happened after Jackson’s death, and they would not have given us this fantastic album where the two musicians do a true review of Each Coast blues rich musical tradition. You will enjoy Frank Fotusky’s delicious way of playing fingerpicking technique together with Grant Dermody’s delicate harmonica moans and tasteful phrasing, customizing the instrument according to Filisko’s method.

Thirteen songs coming from artists like Arthur Phelps, Sonny Boy Williamson, Blind Blake, Carl Martin, Alton Delmore, Charlie Patton, Skip James, John Cephas, Reverend Gary Davis, Leroy Carr, together with two traditional songs and, of course, one coming from John Jackson himself.
