“What Am I Supposed To Do” is one of the most ambitious and mature recordings coming from Irish guitar player singer and songwriter Gráinne Duffy. Recorded at the iconic 64 Sound Studio in Los Angeles and co-produced by such great names like Justin Stanley and Marc Ford, the album is a powerful mixture of southern soul roots blues-rock, combined with the most genuine spirit of 70’s British rock.

Throughout nine songs, the Monaghan coming artist presents a brutal and exuberant performing strength, sustained by crunchy guitar riffs and her unmistakable raspy voice, always full of honesty. Original songs such as the powerful “Tragedy” (co-written with Peter Wolf) and the title album track show the various internal tensions in perfect contrast with the chaotic actual world. The instrumentation feels totally analogue and organic, without unnecessary artificial arrangements, mainly thanks to a stellar studio band that includes drummer Kenny Aronoff and bass player Jørgen Carlsson. The Cd end point is a superb and intimate version of “Need Your Love So Bad”, paying homage to her guitar hero, Peter Green.

In short words, a really good recording with outstanding deep roots, that consolidates Duffy as an artist who deserves to get a place in the royalty of the most international contemporary blues.
