Belgian singer and guitar player Ghalia Volt has got popularity in Europe as a Hill Country Blues and Delta blues performer, styles she has managed to develop with a remarkable personality. With this new album Ghalia gives a turn of one hundred and eighty degrees to her music, to present a new project that has been recorded at Rancho de la Luna studios, located in the middle of the desert and owned by David Catching.

Traveling to Rancho de la Luna has been a unique experience that deeply marked her conception for the album development. The stars, the moon, the coyote howls or the old vintage car parked in front of the studio, were like an initiatory journey to the 70’s music with a touch of psychedelia. Besides, the memories of so many rock musicians who recorded in the studio were like a bonus of inspiration to create the suggestive atmosphere that is breathed in each and every one of the songs included in the recording.

David Catching usually receives musicians who come to his studio with a glass of homemade mezcal, as Mescaleros Apache Indians usually do, and so he did with Ghalia, also providing her some musicians who perfectly adapted themselves to Ghalia’s proposed repertoire. The result is twelve rough, raw songs, oozed with the desert atmosphere that, besides their rawness, also have the beauty of the wild landscapes she daily saw during the time she was recording there, something that is perfectly reflected in her music.
