Destiny made Belgian singer, guitar player, occasional multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ghalia Volt to travel to New Orleans in 2017 to collaborate with legendary band Mama’s Boys. This led her to work with some Mississippi Hill country blues style performers like Cody Dickinson, Cedric Burnside, Lightnin’ Malcolm or Watermelon Slim. The coronavirus pandemic broke down all the projects she had on mind, so Ghalia was determined to not to stop and and she decided to become a “one woman band”, that is to say, she started to play several instruments by herself, such as drums, guitar, different percussion devices, as well as singing.

With this format and, despite restrictions arising from the Covid-19, Ghalia Volt continues to bring her music to those places she is allowed to play, performing raw and gritty Mississippi Hill country blues, which is what is gathered in the eleven album songs, thast has been produced by Thomas Ruf, where, in three songs, you will also find the special and valuable collaboration of Dean Zucchero on bass and Monster Mike Welch on guitar.

For every lover of the blues that comes from the northern hills of Mississippi, the album will be a must but, for listeners who do not know many things about this specific style of that area in USA, then the recording will give them a good opportunity to open their eyes and ears to a new unique musical experience.
