Gerald McClendon is a soul, blues and rhythm and blues singer, of those who could be defined as old school ones, because his influences are firmly anchored in musicians like Marvin Gaye, Wilson Pickett or the great Otis Redding and his sound comes from the most genuine Motown, Stax and Atlantic Records one. Born and raised in Chicago, he has developed an extensive career in soul circuits, but he has also got experience and inspiration walking along the winding roads of blues, rock, country and jazz. He has often collaborated with other musicians in countless projects and he is regularly requested on different bands. With this album Gerald drives us to the golden age of classic conventional soul, performed with no rifts or unnecessary rarities, and he does it with a huge quality and a perfect voice to approach with reliability and a good vocal tone the mentioned music styles. And if we add that the twelve album songs wisely mix blues and soul and the cast of musicians is fantastic, including among others Rico McFarland, Melvin Taylor, Rusty Zinn, Sumito ‘Ariyo’ Ariyoshi, Jim Pugh or the great Chicago drummer Twist Turner, who has also produced and mixed the album, the result is a formidable recording.
