Singer and songwriter Gerald McClendon, well known as The Soul Keeper, has countless times been compared with other great soul and rhythm & blues singers like Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye, Ben E King, Joe Tex, Wilson Pickett or ZZ Hill These comparisons do not fall short as they can easily be identified along the twelve own compositions that give shape to this new work The album has been recorded at Delta Roots Sound Studios in Chicago, under the supervision and production of Twist Turner, a clever engineer, excellent blues drummer and DJ, and features guitar players Herb Walker, Joe Burba and Mark Wydra, keyboard players Roosevelt Purifoy, Sumito Aryioshi and Brian James, the horns of Skiny Williams and John Boom Brumbach, bass player Art Love and the just mentioned Twist Turner on drums Gerald fully controls all the album songs, honoring his nickname of The Soul Keeper, as his originality, passionate feeling, stage presence and the skills to give a fresh new air to the old standards, together with a well displayed repertoire, confirm soul music is alive and well on the hands of an artist like Gerald McClendon
