Gene Taylor is a singer and piano player born in 1952 He grew up listening to great thirties and forties barrelhouse pianists and, of course, boogie woogie masters Taylor has got a wide experience in the vast blues world He has played with James Harman and he has also been member of Kim Wilson’s Fabulous Thunderbirds Now Gene Taylor lives in Europe (Belgium) where he has fixed his residence and home, playing around the old continent alone or backed by local bands For this new work he has chosen a collection of blues, shuffles, New Orleans rhythm & blues and rock and roll together with different joyful boogie woogies, where he perfectly shows his characteristic peculiar style and a very original sound he takes out of the 88 keys, with a pure clean approach that distinguishes him from other similar pianists In this album Gene Taylor is backed by a Finnish band with Jussi ‘Jo’ Buddy Raulamo guitar, Robban Hagnäs bass and drummers Olli Ontronen and Downhome King III who alternate in the drumsticks This is a good album with an old genuine taste I am sure you will like it
