Gaye Adegbalola became well-known as member of the renowned female trio Saffire – The Uppity Blues Women, which was active from 1984 to 2009, recording a series of really essential albums for Alligator Records.

After the trio fall apart, Gaye has developed a fruitful solo career, following the tradition of classic blues women, with a repertoire of songs that talk about women social conditions as well as the independence of all those women who, thanks to music, broke the chains of many social prejudices of they were suffering at those difficult times.

Her new album released for VizzTone label includes fifteen Gaye’s own compositions and five versions, selected from nine of her previous projects, so the album becomes an anthology of excellent songs, starting on last century twenties blues driving listeners to the most actual blues.

In every song Gaye Adegbalola is on vocals, acoustic guitar, slide and harmonica and has counted with the collaboration of Jeff Covert on electric and slide guitar, bass, drums, keyboards, banjo and vocals. Also, you will find other guest musicians involved in the project, like John Freund, Bob Margolin or Phil Wiggins among others.
