Gashouse Dave was the habitual Mike Bloomfield’s bass player during the last Mike’s living years During those years Gashouse got a huge experience thanks to the big tours they did together and the recordings for Takoma, Chrysalis and TK Records Although Dave’s music is deeply rooted in blues, his lyrics and the way he sings them have been mostly influenced by many ‘beat generation’ writers such as Jack Kerouac, Raymond Chandler or William Carlos Williams In this new cd Dave Gashouse comes back to the roots with a renewed energy, backed by his inseparable acoustic or amplified dobro and a bunch of musicians who unfortunately support him with not much conviction Besides his own songs, he has also chosen good Blind Lemon Jefferson or John Lee Hooker versions Dave’s music drives us to old forties and fifties New York Harlem and Village smoking clubs and bars
