Like her mother Miss Marva Ann was, singer Garnetta Cromwell is a strong woman who has made the music her way to express the passion, sincerity and wisdom she treasures, which make her voice and the way she faces songs to get her own personality.

Born in Canada in an African-American family, Garnetta was the youngest of six sisters. From a young age, she deeply admired her mother, a sophisticated, strong character woman who survived and thrived thanks to music. Garnetta decided to follow her footsteps, especially after a hearing problem that required surgical treatment. The innate strength she treasures has made her to grow as an artist, well known as an outstanding rhythm & blues and soul performer, getting a good number of followers.

This is her debut album that gathers ten songs, eight of them Garnetta’s own compositions and the rest successful versions of “Singing The Blues” coming from Ruthie Foster and “Think (About It)” by James Brown. The opening track “Miss Marva Ann”, is a tribute to her mother, highlighting her strength as a woman. The rest present some of the most important moments in her life story, where Garnetta expresses all the force she is able to develop when she is in front of a mic.

Garnetta’s vocals are perfectly supported by the DaGroovmasters with Toshi Otani on guitar, Sabia Crosswell on keyboards, Juan Arce on tenor sax, Mark Howe on bass, and Robin Houston on drums.

This is a cool straightforward album, with an intense punch and strength, that listeners will appreciate and enjoy.
