To talk about actual blues in Argentina is to talk about Gabriel Grätzer Blues would not be conceived there without his name, as was Pappo some years ago Argentina has always given very good performers, bands and blues musicians to the international market Some names which come to my mind which still are or were active are El Cartel de Buenos Aires, La Suburbana, King Size, Kansas City Boys, Memphis La Blusera, Durazno de Gala, Adrián Jiménez or Juan Millones, but there are many other ones, all gifted with an amazing quality In this album Gabriel shows an extensive traditional blues knowledge, performing both deep Mississippi rural and vaudeville blues, as well as yesterday, today and forevermore standards, you will enjoy in his superb version of St James Infirmary The acoustic guitar perfectly matches with double basses, piano, washboard, slide… on a tasteful harmonic combination, so the result can be nothing than a passionate intense blues, as well as a vital suggestive restrained music but, overall, done with total honesty
