Eric Sommer began his musical career playing along Boston area For a couple of years he lived in Europe, working with Nick Lowe and playing in Denmark, Germany and United Kingdom When he came back to Boston he formed The Atomics, a group that soon became a cult band Today Eric has got a direct aggressive style, both playing slide guitar and lap steel guitar and in the way he plays finger-picking technique His live performances are full of optimism and joy, without letting aside a certain melancholic air when he performs songs in the roots music tradition, something that becomes evident along the eight compositions included in this Brooklyn Bolero where, besides Eric Sommer on acoustic guitar, stomp box, harmonica and that Fender Telecaster which always goes with him, you will also find Jim Oakley on percussion, stomp box and backing vocals and Zach Smith on bass, vocal harmonies and groove accelerator A cool, original varied album, especially devoted to all those people who look for the fragrance of a versatile and natural road music, instead a complicated sophistication
