With a long wide career on his back, Elvin Bishop is a well known blues artist who does not need to be introduced to audiences The status he has reached allows him to feel free to play what he likes with the musicians feels comfortable with That is the reason why, at the end of 2015, he decided to break our his retreat in his countryside farm to form a trio with two great musicians and good friends like Bob Welsh (Rusty Zinn, Charlie Musselwhite, James Cotton, Billy Bot Arnold) on piano and guitar and Willy Jordan (John Lee Hooker, Joe Louis Walker, Angela Strehli) on Spanish cajón (no, no, he does not play flamenco music) and vocals The more they played together the more they enjoyed, as did all the people who came to their shows, so the trio is still valid, alive and well In fact you can see them playing and having fun at different venues, bars, clubs, cafes expanding their repertoire to other similar blues related styles As they say, to play in a trio format gives them a lot of freedom and enables them to express all their huge musical knowledge This is a cool, imaginative but, at the same time, torrid harsh blues album that will catch, give joy and deeply move, not only most circumstantial listeners but also all deep blues lovers
